University of Gothenburg was established in 1891. It is the third oldest university in Sweden. The institution has a strong reputation in research which attracts students and also scientists from around the world. The university has around 29000 students today with 12% of them come from other countries.

The alumni of the university can be found within many reputable companies such as Volvo and IKEA. One of their most famous alumni, Jan Eliasson, even joined the United Nations as the Deputy Secretary-General, with a long track record of conflict prevention and mediation missions.
